The TYPO3 Community started to ask for sponsoring for special projects described on the projects page of TYPO3.org two years ago. The concept of sponsored project has since served as a yardstick measuring public demand for the features described and has at the same time fuelled the development of the Digital Asset Management System (DAM), the Native Workflow System (NWS) the Database Abstraction Layer (DBAL), the Document suite the ProjectManager and others.
